Genesis Original Bow
You will not be required to have your own bow, however it will be necessary for any shooting outside of team practices.
The Genesis Original compound bow can be purchased brand new online for about $165 at Genesis-Outlet.com. If you wish to build a completely customized bow with different colors you can build-to-order directly from www.GenesisBow.com
If you wish to purchase locally, BassPro Shops carries the Genesis Original bundled with arrows for about $220. Cabela's also carries them bundled for $220 but also sells the bows unbundled for $169.
Just remember the bow must be the Genesis Original and NOT the Genesis Pro or Genesis Mini. The Genesis Original is the ONLY approved NASP bow.
IMPORTANT: An eye dominance test is required before purchasing a bow to determine if you need a right or left handed bow. Here is a link on how to perform a simple eye dominance test using the aperture method. If you need further assistance with this please let us know and we can walk you through it or we can perform the test.

EASTON 1820 NASP APPROVED ARROWS
Easton factory assembled Genesis 1820 shafts for the NASP program have a specifically designed target point(arrow tip) to prevent floor marring, specific fletching size and shaft length. I would recommend only buying your arrows from Shipley's Outlet, BassPro or Cabela's. If you purchase arrows from BassPro or Cabela's they will have the Genesis and NASP logos on the arrows and packaging. DO NOT buy arrows on ebay to prevent buying the 1820 shaft with the wrong arrow tips, fletching, nock or length specs.
We will supply arrows for team practices but you will need your own arrows if you wish to shoot outside of team practices.

Finger PrOTECTION
NASP archers can and do shoot successfully with bare fingers and usually will be fine when shooting under 30-40 arrows at time until calluses begin to form. However, we recommended that you wear finger protection. Shooting with sore fingers will cause sloppy shooting and bad form. In addition, bare finger shooting often can cause temporary numbness in the finger tips and can potentially cause nerve damage. While nerve damage is not common with bare finger shooting in low draw weight NASP bows it is not a risk worth taking. Archers will have greater success when they are not focused on the pain in their finger tips and instead can focus on other things like form and aiming. We will be shooting 50-100 arrows per practice after we've passed the early season form and technique phases.
You should avoid using cloth, grippy, or bulky shooting gloves. There are many different types of gloves and finger tabs on the market but there is ONE THAT WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND. It is called the Damascus Glove and can be purchased from Genesis-Outlet. The reason this glove is ideal is because it is very thin and gives the feeling and responsiveness of shooting with bare fingers. This glove needs zero break-in time and forms to the archers hand in one session. This glove is made from doe skin and is very soft and very durable while being very thin. The finish of the leather is very slick which aids in a clean release preventing string twist and arrow fish tailing. Unless you have large hands most archers will need a youth size. The adult sizes run large for very big hands.

GENESIS ARROW REST
The Genesis arrow rest by design, takes significant amount of wear and needs to be replaced periodically throughout the season. The metal portion of the rest will begin to sag or bend and grooves will begin to appear on the black and clear soft plastic.
Sometimes the arrow rest will last for over 1000 arrows and sometimes they may only last for 100 arrows. If you have your own bow, you will need a handful of these. It is critical to change the arrow rest few weeks before the tournament portion of the season and to stay on top of the condition of it.
The rest is very easy to change. It just pushes out and you can press a new one back in. Keeping a true arrow rest on the bow will insure consistent aiming.

BOW STRING WAX
Applying a small amount of wax to your bow string will help keep it from fraying and significantly extend its life. It only needs to be applied periodically(once every 2-4 practices).
Be careful to not get wax build-up around the cams. Here is a great video on the proper way to wax your bow string.

ARCHERY SHOES
NASP rules state that you must wear close toed shoes. You will be shooting on a gym floor so hard sole shoes are prohibited.
