Team Handbook
Throughout the season coaches will refer to items in our Archery Team Handbook.
All archers and parents are required to read and understand the contents in the archery team handbook. There is a large quantity of content and much of it changes every year, so it just makes sense to maintain our team handbook online. It is of particular importance that all archers read and understand all range and procedure rules.
Items in the handbook are subject to change at any time and new information will be added as each season progresses.
You must turn in your signed waiver before you can participate in team practices. ALL ARCHERS and PARENTS are required to sign the online team agreement form indicating you have read and understand ALL content under this "Team Handbook" tab.

LFE ARCHERY
LFE Archery is open to 4th and 5th graders at LFE. Coach Matthew Ketteman is hosting two sessions of archery this Winter and Spring. The first session is "TEAM ARCHERY" and is for LFE 4th or 5th grade students who are interested in competing against other archers around our area. All students are welcome, even those who are new to Lee's Summit Archery program. "INTRO to ARCHERY" is a beginning archery club for the 4th & 5th grade students of LFE. We will not be shooting in a tournament with this group. It is a soft start to learn the basics of archery success.
"TOURNAMENT TEAM ARCHERY" will run from January - March.
"INTRO TO ARCHERY" will run in the month of April.

attendance And Behavior
Please understand the expectations for this club are set for the safety of all involved and the integrity of the program itself. Your child must be able to be in control of themselves and not be a distraction or safety concern. If this is an issue for your child, They will be asked to stop or sit out. This is a one-time occurrence. If a behavior continues to be disruptive or a safety concern, your child will be asked not to return, and your session fee will be forfeited to the team.
Since we will only practice once or twice a week the majority of the season, full attendance will be important. If there is a conflict in your schedule with practice times, please let us know and we will make every attempt to come up with a workable solution.

equipment
We will provide practice arrows and we will have practice bows available. You will not be required to have your own bow or arrows, however they will be necessary for any shooting outside of team practices.
The Genesis Original compound bow can be purchased for archers to practice outside of our school events.
IMPORTANT: An eye dominance test is required before purchasing a bow to determine if you need a right or left handed bow. Here is a link on how to perform a simple eye dominance test using the aperture method. If you need further assistance with this please let us know and we can walk you through it or we can perform the test.
For a complete list and explanation of all recommended and optional equipment we use please read through our "EQUIPMENT" page.

Team Size
For most tournaments, in order to be scored as a team, the minimum team size is 12 archers with a minimum 4 of each gender. The maximum team size is 24. Our goal for these elementary years of trying archery is to allow all students to participate and learn the fundamentals of the sport.
Tournament Entry
Most invitational style tournament entry fees will run between $5 - $10 per archer. The Missouri State Championship Tournament fee is a little higher, but each archer also gets a commemorative T-Shirt with their entry. Our team is not guaranteed a space at that tournament. More information will be given on tournament entry as the archery season begins.
team Apparel
Students on the "Tournament Team" archery club will have the opportunity to order a customized shirt or borrow a jersey. This jersey will be used throughout our tournament season. At the end of the year the jerseys will be returned to Mr. K. for use in the next archery season.
